Five ways to accessorise on the beach
Share
One of the best things about beachwear is its versatility – you can dress it up or dress it down as you please. Bikinis and swimsuits are so easy to accessorise – and can effortlessly be taken from smart to casual, sexy siren to boho babe – with just a few simple accessories. Here we share just a few of our favourite ways to spice things up in the sun – whether your swimwear style is hippy heaven or sophisticated chic.
Wrap it up
Scarves and sarongs are the go-to beach accessory – as they’re so versatile and look incredible. So many different designs and colours are available – so it’s easy to mix and match. We love head wraps – the perfect way to protect your head and your hair from strong sun. Experiment with different turban styles to find one that suits your face shape – pile high for an indulgent, glamorous movie-star look or keep it chic and simple for understated elegance.
Be jewelled
We love accessorising our beach looks with bold jewellery and simple yet sophisticated styles. If you love to make a statement opt for big, beaded earrings and chunky necklaces – paired with bangles for an eye-catching ensemble. If you prefer to keep things understated a simple pair of gold hoops and dainty chains around your wrists and ankles add instant style and sophistication to a daytime look. Where possible opt for good quality jewellery that won’t become tarnished or discoloured by chlorine or saltwater.
Best foot forward
Footwear is essential on and off the beach – but you need something versatile and flexible that’ll serve you whether you’re sitting on the sand or hitting the road. Sandals and flip flops should be sturdy yet sleek – easy to wear, breathable and comfortable. Opt for pretty slinky styles that retain some substance – a good sole is key. Flip flops embellished with tassels or jewels are a great way to dress up an otherwise chilled beach ensemble.
You got it covered
When you need to cover up it’s simple to do it in style. Use pashminas and scarfs and wrap creatively either around the waist, as a halter-neck or as a mini-dress. Keeping it casual? Try a top or an oversized t-shirt or linen shirt for an easy breezy style.
